Our Sources
Plantes des Cévennes
A Cévenol farm where medicinal plants, transmission, and distillation still follow the rhythm of the seasons.
Organic cultivation, local distillation, hydrolats, essential oils, and peasant herbal knowledge passed from one generation to the next.
Cévennes, France
A living farm rooted in the Cévennes mountains.
Founded in 1978 by Geneviève in the Cévennes valleys, the farm first began as a goat farm before gradually evolving toward aromatic and medicinal plants.
Since 2004, the farm has cultivated, harvested and transformed organic plants through a deeply artisanal and local approach.
What immediately resonated with us was the simplicity of the place, the human coherence of the project, and the rare feeling of a farm where plants are still part of daily life.

A peasant approach to plants
Cultivate, harvest, distill and transmit.
Plants are cultivated on Cévenol land and distilled fresh in the village still of Sainte-Croix-Vallée-Française.
Spring water is heated into steam and slowly passes through the plants to extract their aromatic compounds and hydrolats.
Each plant carries its own yield and rhythm. Some produce very little essential oil yet offer extraordinary aromatic richness, such as lemon balm or Roman chamomile.
This local and seasonal approach creates oils deeply connected to the Cévennes climate, mountains, soils and living ecosystems.
Why We Chose Them
“A farm where plants are not simply produced, but truly lived with.”
Plantes des Cévennes reflects a simpler, more rooted and deeply human aromatherapy. Distillation remains connected to the land, the seasons and everyday farm work.
We were also moved by their desire to transmit knowledge through visits, conversations and an accessible approach to medicinal plants.

How we evaluate our sources
