Philosophy
Understand before acting.
Aroma Compass is built on a simple conviction: people are more complex than their symptoms, and essential oils deserve more than simplistic answers.
Our Principles
Five principles guide my method.
01
Understand Before Acting
Every situation deserves understanding before recommendations are made.
02
Respect Complexity
People are more complex than symptoms. Essential oils are more complex than their reputations.
03
Value Transparency
Understanding where an oil comes from is as important as understanding how it is used.
04
Remain Independent
Education and guidance should remain free from interests that influence recommendations.
05
Recognize Limits
Essential oils have a place. They also have limits. Responsible practice recognizes both.
Respecting Complexity
People and plants are more complex than they appear.
Every person brings their own context, history, sensitivities and goals. Essential oils themselves are shaped by their botanical origin, terroir, chemistry and method of use.
French Heritage
Between science, intuition and sensory experience.
The French tradition of aromatherapy reminds us that an essential oil is more than chemistry alone, and more than aroma alone. Scientific knowledge provides structure. Sensory experience provides human context. We believe both matter.
Why Aroma Compass?
A compass, not a destination.
A compass does not make decisions for us. It does not impose a single path. It helps us navigate when the terrain becomes complex or uncertain.
We believe people are more complex than their symptoms, and that essential oils deserve more than universal answers. Every situation has its own context, goals, constraints and nuances.
This conviction gave birth to Aroma Compass. Our ambition is not to provide ready-made recipes, but to offer reliable guidance for understanding essential oils, their uses, limitations and precautions.
More than a destination, we aspire to be a point of orientation. A compass for exploring aromatherapy with greater understanding, discernment and confidence.
Understanding the Person
A person-centered approach to aromatherapy.
Aroma Compass was born from a simple conviction: essential oils deserve more than exaggerated promises, universal recipes, or passing trends.
We believe no person can be reduced to a symptom or a label. Behind every request lies a unique story, environment, experiences and sensitivities. This vision echoes a reflection often attributed to Hippocrates: 'It is more important to know the person who has the condition than the condition the person has.'
It also reflects the legacy of Marguerite Maury, a pioneer of individualized aromatherapy who viewed every person as unique. Modern understanding of biological individuality and personal sensitivities continues to reinforce this perspective today.
Before discussing essential oils, we first seek to understand the individual: their context, goals, habits and preferences. Because behind every request lies a unique story.
Our ambition is simple: to offer a space for listening, understanding and guidance so that aromatic plants can be explored with greater discernment, safety and confidence.
Ultimately, Aroma Compass does not claim to be a destination. Simply a compass.
Recognizing Limits
Essential oils have a place. They also have limits.
Responsible aromatherapy extends beyond selecting essential oils. It also requires safety, transparency, listening and respect for professional boundaries.
Aroma Compass embraces principles commonly promoted by professional aromatherapy organizations such as the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), including education, client respect, safety and responsible use of essential oils.
We do not claim to diagnose, treat or cure disease. Our role is to support wellbeing, comfort and quality of life while respecting each individual situation.
When appropriate, we encourage collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, Ayurvedic practitioners, bodywork professionals and other complementary disciplines. Holistic wellbeing often benefits from multiple perspectives.
Recognizing limits does not diminish the value of aromatherapy. On the contrary, it allows it to be used with greater discernment, safety, and respect for individual circumstances.
Value Transparency
Understanding origin as much as use.
Aroma Compass values both the historical heritage of aromatherapy and modern knowledge emerging from aromatic chemistry, toxicology, pharmacognosy and olfactory sciences.
Traditional uses can be valuable, but they should always be interpreted within their botanical, chemical, safety and individual context.
We place particular value on terroir, artisan distillers and independent producers who preserve authentic craftsmanship. Behind every essential oil lies a landscape, a climate and dedicated people.
This is why we value transparency regarding our sourcing and proudly highlight the producers we work with.

A personalized consultation goes beyond these general principles, applying them concretely to your own situation.
